Sweetheart of a Deal

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Love is always in the air on this day. Some are fortunate enough to have a sweetheart to treat them extra special, others – not so much. But it is a great day to consider the love our heavenly Father has for each of us; and, that is much more important than any other love out there.

I am going to quote one of my favorite passages in the Bible – this is very often called The Love Chapter.  I am just going to quote this from I Corinthians 13:1-8a – from The Message translation, then I will just leave it here for you to ponder:

“If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain ‘Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.

If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always ‘me first.’ Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel,

Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.

Love never dies,…..” That is a true sweetheart of a deal.

  1. Karran, I ran across a picture of your family in a Muleshoe Journal today. They have scanned in most of the old newspapers. This is from March 6, 1958. Just type in collections2.swco.ttu.edu. It’s fun to look through the old papers. I graduated in 1958 and enjoyed looking at that year. I hated to contact you on here but wanted you to see the pictures. It wouldn’t let me save the pictures. I took pictures with my phone of them but remembered I might could contact you through your blog.

    1. Oh my gosh Mary! Thank you so much. I found the site using the link & it took me a bit to figure it out & how to get to that specific issue but I finally did. I have that picture of the 4 of us on the couch but had no idea when it was taken, where or why! Now I do!! Thanks again!

  2. Me too Leta; and, there are so many of them to relish too! I don’t always have full appreciation for the MSG translation, but I like the way it broke down the Corinthian verses. I hope your day was special – and from what I saw, it was.
