“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good! His loving-kindness lasts forever! Let the people who have been saved say so. He has bought them and set them free from the hand of those who hated them. He gathered them from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.” (Psalm 107:1-3 NLV)
“‘Lord, help!’ they cried, and he did! He led them straight to safety and a place to live.” (Psalm 107:6-7 TLB)
“‘Lord, help!’ they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom; he snapped their chains.” (Psalm 107:13-14 ERV)
“‘Lord, help!’ they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.” (Psalm 107:19-20 NLT)
“‘Lord, help!’ they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor!” (Psalm 107:28-30 NLT)
When you look at a globe of the world and consider the east, the west, the north, the south you should then realize that that is all encompassing. Nothing is left out.
Even today our God desires to gather everyone from everywhere to join our lives with Him, just as He did for the Israelites referred to in Psalm 107. If you just willingly give your heart to Him, He can then lead you to safety, remove you from darkness and gloom. He can heal you and still all the storms in your life, giving you peace in your heart and mind.
The reason the Israelites were constantly having to call out to Him for help was because of their rebellion. I don’t think our mind set is any different than that of those Israelites. It’s too easy to swerve off the straight and narrow life path we should try to live on and get into a state of rebellion. Then when things turn sour for us, we call out to Him for help. We should be ashamed! Yet He is there for us – just waiting for our return – because “His loving-kindness lasts forever!”
So if you find yourself wandering away from the God-centered life, headed east, west, north or south just call out for His help and He will be there for you. Ask for His forgiveness then take His hand and get back on the right track. The blessings are waiting there for you.
