(Recommended Reading – John 3:1-21 / Quoted scripture passages from NIV)
As we go through life, so very many people are desperately seeking joy, peace, love, success, etc. As they go about seeking these things, they enter into temporal solutions – happiness instead of joy, lust instead of love, greed instead of success and self-satisfaction instead of peace. There are areas of their lives that just cannot ever seem to be filled, never seem to meet the deep needs that are there – there is a void.
That void is God-shaped and true salvation is all they should be seeking – if necessary – in desperation. Jesus Christ in your life will fill that void.
The sad thing is that the resolution is such a simplistic solution yet some people avoid it – sometimes totally intentionally. It is a gift available to us all – a free gift from God. All we have to do is receive Jesus as our Savior and believe in Him and His deity. We cannot work for it, we cannot earn it in any way and we do not even deserve it. But God the Father loves us all so very much that through the birth, life, death and resurrection of His own son, Jesus, on this earth more than 2000 years ago, we can believe and be spiritually born again. With this re-birth, we can have a full life here on earth. We will die a physical death some day, but our spirit will resurrect and have eternal life in His presence!
John 1:12-13 says: “..to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God – children not born of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” And Ephesians 2:1-9 says: “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved through faith – and this not from yourselves – it is the gift of God – not by works so that no one can boast.”
When we are naturally born to our mothers, we are “born of water” but we need to also be “born of the Spirit”. Jesus explains in John 3:1-21 about the importance of being born again and how to accomplish it. It is necessary in order to have the eternal life we should all be striving for.
So if you have been sensing a void in your life and yet seeking all the wrong things in all the wrong places – with no real satisfaction – then start desperately seeking salvation and watch the miracles occur!
